We’re caring for families around the world through our 3 core programs
RMHCSC Celebrates 30 years of helping local community organizations throughout Southern California that benefit children through our Community Grants program. RMHCSC establishes a Community Grants Board with support from the McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California that is committed to providing funds to organizations that improve the lives of children in Southern California. Each year, we rely on the expertise and talents of nearly 300 volunteers to deliver high quality, outcome driven programs. Our volunteer counselors come from all over the world and range in age from 19 to 70 years-old. The Ronald McDonald House provides housing, food and activities to families that have a child getting treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Volunteer groups and community organizations show their love of families by hosting incredible holiday-focused events throughout the year, including parties, special meals, music and/or field trips.
700 Families
We are available to you seven days a week, 24 hours a day, every day of the year even after you leave the house and return home. Our hope is to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy by keeping families close to each other and the care they need. Expanding even further, the three-bedroom Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House opened to support families of children receiving treatment at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and other nearby medical facilities. It also provides day-use services to local residents whose children are receiving treatment in the hospital's pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. Family Support Services (FSS) provides emotional support, education and resources to the families and staff of the Ronald McDonald House. Individuals, couples, and entire families are served in the privacy of the FSS offices, around the House, in the kitchen, playroom, on Zoom, or wherever a person feels most comfortable.
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Programs
Reflecting the diverse communities we serve, most of our staff and FSS team is bilingual. We utilize medical translation phone services through our partnership with CyraCom. We understand the importance of a supportive “home away from home” for our families during this difficult time – and this is why we provide more than just a place to sleep. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House expanded its services, opening a new building adjacent to the original facility. In total, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House can now serve 75 families per night. Our 30,000 employees are scientists, researchers, communicators, manufacturing specialists and regulatory experts located around the globe.
This eight-room Craftsman-style home serves families whose children are receiving treatment at Huntington Hospital and other nearby hospitals and medical centers. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child's medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans. These are only some of the reasons that make Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California an important organization.
